BOROGODÓish’ is a fashion-moving image project based on Bruna Borelli’s self-questioning of what it means to be Brazilian.
Focusing on visually portraying the attached feelings of living abroad through surrealistic and artistic experimental shots that bring a sense of strangeness, it communicates an awareness of not-belonging or breaking from associative Brazilian stereotypes, one being female body expectations.
Colour is used to play on an expression of the perceived ‘happiness’ linked to Brazil(ians), and it’s embedded yet undefinable taste, charm, and attractiveness in culture; borogodó. The remodelling of these preconceptions and the way one thinks of themselves outside of a native context translates the questioning eeriness of this process to the viewer.
